The Last Day of Our Yangyang Trip: Daegwallyeong Sky Ranch and Two Hotel Reviews
Hayule & Jiyule's Dad2026. 9. 17. 11:37
Our summer trip to Yangyang was almost over, but going straight home felt a little sad. So, on the last day, August 6, 2026, we stopped by Daegwallyeong Sky Ranch before heading home. It was a great way to finish our four-night, five-day trip.
I’m also sharing a simple review of the two places where we stayed: Sota Suite Yangyang Grand Bay for three nights and Cohost Studio for one night. The two accommodations had very different strengths, so this comparison may help if you are planning a Yangyang trip.
Daegwallyeong Sky Ranch: A Cool and Fun Final Stop
We took the tractor wagon from the Central Station to the Sky Maru Observatory. Walking there and back takes about three hours, so taking the wagon is a much better choice during the hot summer months.
The round trip took about 45 minutes. Because the observatory is high up in the mountains, the cool wind felt wonderful as soon as we arrived. It was a nice break from the summer heat.
The Tractor Wagon Ride
The tractor was much bigger than we expected. It pulled a wagon about the size of a bus. If you want to see the animals along the way, try to sit on the right side in the direction of travel.
We had about 15 minutes of free time at the observatory. We took family photos with the large wind turbines in the background. The view made the short stop feel special.
Animal Feeding at the Main Zone
On the way down, the wagon stopped at four places. We stayed on until the last stop, the Main Zone pasture. There, we were able to feed sheep, rabbits, goats, horses, and ducks.
Interestingly, almost everyone was feeding only the sheep! The ranch also offers a shorter course where you can skip the tractor wagon and go straight to the animal-feeding area. That option is worth considering if you do not have much time.
After feeding the animals, we cooled down with cold drinks at Sky Café. We also picked up a few souvenirs at Sky Store before leaving the ranch.

Our Two Yangyang Accommodations
We split our stay between two places during the trip. From August 2 to August 5, we stayed for three nights at Sota Suite Yangyang Grand Bay in front of Naksan Beach. For the final night, from August 5 to August 6, we stayed at Cohost Studio.
Here is what we liked—and what we found inconvenient—about each place.
Sota Suite Yangyang Grand Bay: Best Location, Some Small Inconveniences
Stay: August 2–5, three nights
The easiest way to describe Sota Suite Yangyang Grand Bay is this: the location was excellent, but some small details could have been better.
The hotel is right in the middle of Naksan Beach, so getting around was very easy. The rooftop infinity pool was also a big plus and made the stay feel more enjoyable.
What We Liked
The biggest advantage was the location. We could reach Naksan Beach quickly, and the open ocean view was beautiful. The rooftop infinity pool was another reason we would consider staying here again.
What Could Be Improved
There were a few small issues during our stay. The elevators were managed together rather than operating separately by building section, so the waiting time sometimes felt stressful. The bathroom had three separate areas, but there was no main door to close off the entire bathroom area.
We also could not find clear instructions for using the room safe. Information about how to throw away food waste was limited as well. In addition, the entire building had only three washers and dryers, so we had to wait to use them.
If you mainly care about a great beach location, a wide ocean view, and an infinity pool, this hotel is still worth considering. Just be ready for a few minor inconveniences in the everyday details.
Cohost Studio: Better Room and Facilities, Limited Parking
Stay: August 5–6, one night
We spent our last night in Yangyang at Cohost Studio. Compared with the first hotel, the room condition and facilities were actually better. The main drawback was the parking situation.
The unit had two rooms, so the space was divided nicely. It also had a built-in refrigerator, a washing machine, and a microwave in each room. These features made the room very comfortable, especially for a longer stay.
The ocean view was also fantastic. When we opened the curtains, we could see the wide-open sea right away.
The Parking Problem
The studio did not have enough private parking spaces, so guests had to use a free public parking lot. When we returned from Sokcho in the evening, the nearby lot was full. We had to park at the Marine Comprehensive Leisure Sports Center public parking lot and walk back for about five to ten minutes.
It was not a huge problem for one night, but it could become inconvenient if you are traveling by car for several days.
Who Might Enjoy Cohost Studio?
Cohost Studio is a good choice if you want a comfortable room, useful in-room facilities, and a beautiful ocean view. If you plan to stay for several nights, remember to think about parking before you arrive.
If moving your car often feels tiring, bringing groceries and cooking inside the studio may be a smart option.
Final Thoughts on Our Yangyang Trip
That brought our four-night, five-day Yangyang trip to an end. Daegwallyeong Sky Ranch was a refreshing last stop, especially because of the cool mountain air, animal-feeding experience, and beautiful views.
The two accommodations were quite different. Sota Suite Yangyang Grand Bay had the better beach location and rooftop infinity pool, while Cohost Studio offered a better room setup and more useful facilities. If we visit Yangyang again, we would choose between them depending on our plans, parking needs, and the kind of stay we want.
